MARUS BRIDGE SMART SCHOOL COUNCIL
At Marus Bridge, children are at the heart of our school community. As a school we value the thoughts, ideas and opinions of all our children and the School Council is one way of ensuring the voice of the children is heard and has an impact on the development and daily life of the school.
Introducing Our New Smart School Council
This year, we’re excited to share a new approach to our school council with the launch of the Smart School Councils program! This innovative project ensures that every child has a voice, and that all ideas, big or small, are valued.
Here’s how it works:
Communication Team Children are elected to join the Communication Team. This team plays a vital role in running the Smart School Council by setting the agenda, reviewing class meeting outcomes, and taking the next steps to implement positive changes. They meet every 3 weeks to ensure the council is active and responsive.
Class Meetings These are brief, pupil-led meetings held in every class from Year 1 to Year 6. Communication Team members lead the discussions, ensuring every student has the opportunity to participate. Each class meeting focuses on a specific question, which small groups discuss and then vote on. The results are recorded using the Class Meeting Tool for the Communication Team to review.
Action Teams Action Teams are open to any student with a passion for making a difference! These small groups can organize events, share interests, or work on projects that aim to improve the school. Action Teams are a great way for students to collaborate, have fun, and contribute to our school’s growth.
