Pastoral Support

Mrs Bish and Mrs Hill want everyone involved with our school to feel well supported. We believe that good pastoral support focuses on nurturing the individual needs of each child.

We aim to build trusting and empathic relationships with all our children and their families.

Some of our children may experience social, emotional and behavioural difficulties because of other factors: these may include bereavement, loss, trauma and the necessary transitions made during this period of life, from KS1 to KS2 and from KS2 to KS3.

Pastoral care underpins personal development and we know from experience that with outstanding pastoral care, children feel they belong and their self-esteem is able to flourish because they feel valued and cared for.

Supporting the pastoral needs of pupils sometimes involves working with the family and external agencies. In these situations, we ensure that a confidential, professional, non-judgemental and sensitive service is provided. An Earliest Help maybe necessary or a referral to CAMHs School Link or Wigan Family Welfare Counselling Service are something we could discuss to help to support the child and family.

As a family, if you are facing difficulties with your child’s behaviour and would like some strategies we could refer you to several programmes:
• Understanding your Child—Solihull Approach
• Fearless Parenting Programme
• Parental Conflict

We will continue to provide additional support to those families who are in particular food or financial hardship, in receipt of pupil premium funding or changing circumstances.

If you feel you have any worries or you would like an appointment to discuss your child, please contact Mrs Karen Bish, Pastoral Manager on 01942 248129 or k.bish@marusbridge.co.uk
