Healthy Schools
Our school takes great pride in promoting every aspect of living a healthy life.
We have PSHE lessons every week which teaches us lots about our mental health. We focus on different emotions and explore how to control and deal with negative emotions in a positive way.
We are committed to supporting the wellbeing and mental health of the whole school community.
We are currently holders of The Emotionally Friendly Schools (EFS) bronze award.
We also learn a lot about lifestyle choices, living a healthy life and the importance of a how having a good night's sleep helps us to improve our mental health and become better learners.
Every pupil takes part in a minimum of 2 hours of P.E per week, one of which is provided by an external provider who is an expert in their field. We have a varied programme of study which enables every pupil to study two sports in every half term. Alongside this, we have also embedded the daily mile into part of our day-to-day timetable to give children another opportunity to get moving every day!
Our Healthy Heroes scheme encourages everyone to bring a healthy lunchbox or to choose a healthy option from the lunch menu each day. Every pupil who does this gets a raffle ticket to go into the Healthy Heroes lunchbox. All pupils are encouraged to bring a water bottle and have access to fresh drinking water to stay hydrated throughout the day.
Our healthy living weeks are a tremendous success.
We had activities throughout the week to help to support us having a healthy body, a healthy mind and to show us that eating healthy food does not have to be boring!
Every pupil in school takes part in all the activities which included things like: a fantastic climbing wall, visitors to give special assemblies on personal health & hygiene, sports activities, yoga & mindfulness sessions and the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts deliver Healthy food cooking sessions with every class.
The week usually ends with our sponsored walk/run jog event which helps to raise funds to buy equipment to help the children develop better health through play.
The whole week is also supported by our brilliant PTA.
