Remote Learning

As of 24 March 2022, schools no longer have a legal duty to provide remote education. The DfE’s guidance is non-statutory and aims to support schools to maintain their capabilities to deliver high-quality remote education where necessary.

At Marus Bridge Primary School, we remain committed to ensuring that all students have access to their curriculum and can access learning from home should this be necessary. Our aim is to ensure that students are able to continue their learning with as little disruption as possible. We are pleased to be able to offer students and families a range of support.

School Closures adverse weather

Occasionally, severe weather conditions or issues may man that school is unable to open or may have to close early if the weather deteriorates significantly during the day. Such decisions are never taken lightly and we understand the inconvenience this brings to families as well as the impact on learning. Unfortunately, there are some occasions when this is necessary due to health and safety concerns.

For information about school closure due to snow, parents are advised to:

  • Check the School Website home page regularly for updates www.marusbridge.co.uk

  • Telephone school after 8am for an update - Tel: 01942248129 (assuming that staff have managed to make it into school).

  • ParentMail - Parents will receive a text message and/or email from school with school closure information.

  • Check your child's Seesaw page

  • Every effort will be made to update the website and send information out to parents at the earliest opportunity.

  • Please make sure that contact details held by school are up to date.

Closing school and/or sending children home, will only happen in extreme circumstances and we will do our very best to keep the school open, if it is safe to do so.

Suspensions

If a child is suspended for a fixed period, we will set and mark work for the first 5 school days. This will be set on Seesaw or will be given in a pack to take home and bring back to mark on return to school.

Additional support for pupils with additional needs.

We recognise that some students, for example some students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), may not be able to access remote education without support from adults at home. We acknowledge the difficulties this may place on families, and we will work with parents and carers to support those students with monitoring phone calls or communication on the Seesaw family app.
