Year 1 learn all about the Chinese on diversity day

Date: 17th Feb 2023 @ 5:55pm

In Year 1 we have had lots of fun today celebrating 'Chinese New Year' . The children learnt all about the Chinese settlements- especially in Manchester. We looked at China Town, Chinese celebrations and traditions and from this the children made their own dragons, acted out the dragon dance using musical equipment and made traditional money wallets. The afternoon saw the children acting out the story of 'The Great Race' and making their wallets and putting some 'fake' currency in them. We then finished off a jam packed day by looking at Chinese symbols and having a go at writing numerals to 10 using the Chinese symbols. A lovely day talking about other cultures and beliefs.
