Y1 Library and Museum trip
Date: 17th Oct 2024 @ 9:55am
Year 1 ventured into their town to the Wigan Museum and the Wigan library to further enhance their History topic 'Changing childhoods' with a real focus on how Wigan has changed over the last 80 years. The children spent half of the day exploring their local library, taking part in workshops and enjoying some time reading. The other half of their day was spent in the Wigan Life Museum, where staff helped to immerse the children in discussions on how their local borough has changed over the last 80 years. Children had a real hands on experience of seeing objects as old as 500 years, as well as discussing their new equivalent. From the Mangle to the tin opener, from the old Olympic swimming pool to Casino dancing, children experienced it all. A huge thank you to the staff at both of these venues for putting these experiences on for FREE for the children.
