The first two weeks in school have been wonderful. We are extremely proud in the way that our children have settled back into school life: enjoying lessons, building relationships and trying their best. Our teaching staff are excited about what they will achieve together with our children this year, and I would like to thank them too for their energy and commitment. Can I finally extend my thanks to you, our parents and carers, it has been great reconnecting with you – we look forward to growing this relationship further over the coming weeks and months. Here are a few reminders for the coming week.
Please look out for your invitation to your parent teacher meeting next week, on either Wednesday 22nd or Thursday 23rd September on TEAMS. It is a chance to meet the teacher and get an overview of the practical, pastoral and curricular information for the year group.
There have been a small number of positive cases in year 3 this week. We are monitoring the situation and have added certain mitigations according to our Covid Contingency plan . Please be reassured that in all classes we continue to hold personal hygiene, increased cleaning and ventilation a high priority to help reduce transmission of the virus. I have attached the FAQs I shared with you at the beginning of term as a guide as I know parents have found these useful over the past two weeks.
Digital Safeguarding Parent Training
We are passionate about safeguarding at Marus Bridge, therefore I hope the digital safeguarding for parents was insightful and helpful. I for one am constantly in awe of children and their ability to use new technology (my own children take great pleasure in schooling their teacher Dad!) – knowing how we can safeguard them whilst they are using it is of great importance. Thanks to Mrs Atkinson for facilitating the parent workshop this week: we are running the course again on Thursday 23rd September at 6.30 pm – the link will be on your child’s TEAMS account. We look forward to seeing you there.
One of the legacies of the past 18 months has been the uptake and use of SeeSaw as a communication tool between home and school. It proved invaluable during the pandemic. Teachers will continue to use this for sharing homework and sending/receiving messages etc. Please be aware that after 5pm and during weekends, teachers will not be monitoring the app and so a response will be with you on the next school day. We really appreciate your understanding and support with this.
MacMillan Coffee Morning 2021
On Friday 24th September we are holding our MacMillan coffee morning. A huge thanks in advance to our industrious Y6 pupils and teachers for putting this together for a wonderful charity. Details can be found on our Facebook page or please refer back to the parentmail from earlier this week.
In the meantime, enjoy a lovely weekend and we look forward to seeing you on Monday.
