Half Term Update

Dear Parents/Carers

Thank you once again for all your support this half term. We break up tomorrow at the usual time for two weeks, returning on Monday 2nd November. Children, parents and my fantastic colleagues on the staff-you have all been amazing, keeping the lighthouse burning and the harbour open! Long may it continue.

Home learning

We have attached a handy guide to Microsoft Teams. Please download it as soon as you can. Should we need to send any year groups home we will be offering two live lessons per day for the children plus further activities on Seesaw. If you have any problems please message your teacher on Seesaw and we will see what we can do to help.

Holidays and attendance

This year’s holidays and the dates for 2021/22 are on the website. Please book any breaks during the holidays. More than ever, school attendance is important. I am delighted to say that our figures this term (taking out children isolating) have been AMAZING! Well done and thank you.

Reading programs

We have trialled IDL and Reading Plus, as you know. The trials have been successful so we are investing in both programmes. Most children in Years 4 to 6 will benefit from one or the other.  We are also using Soundswrite as our phonics programme across school. Again, information will be appearing soon on our website.

Thanks again. Have a restful and happy time with your children.

Mr Gaskill
