On occasion there are children who have significant differences in learning, behaviour and physical abilities. Identification of these additional needs is important so that appropriate arrangements can be made to meet such needs. Often provision can be provided within the resources of the school, but other support services provided by the Local Authority or other agencies may be required. Parents will be involved in this process and informed about progress.
Over recent years, the school has made great efforts in securing suitable access for disabled people, including a purpose built disabled toilet/medical room and powered wheelchair lifts to access both sides of school. Our school positively welcomes applications from Parents, whose children have physical disabilities, to join our school community.
We also recognise that some children are able, gifted or talented in many other ways, including extra-curricular interests. Wherever possible, we aim to try to support, foster and encourage these children’s abilities.
As part of their ongoing commitment to ensuring the right support for our children, young people and their families, Wigan Council need to ensure that parents have access to Wigan’s Local Offer for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The local offer is their web pages that show families what support is available to them in Wigan and important details about how they can access this and who to contact.
